Democrats Want You to Pay for Your Shopping Bags
Was a vote for Barrack Obama in November an endorsement for more fees at the grocery store? That’s what Rep. Kim Fawcett suggested Tuesday as she made the case for a proposal that would have Connecticut residents pay for plastic AND paper bags at the grocery store. As most residents of this state cope with the worst financial crisis they have seen, Rep. Dick Roy started a Capitol news conference with a story about South African neighborhoods where children thought plastic bags grew on trees. Roy told the news media that Democrats certainly don’t want that to happen here. Meanwhile, manufacturing firms, once the backbone of Connecticut’s economy, are doing everything they can to stay afloat. A reporter left flustered Rep. Denise Merrill with detailed questions about how the legislation would affect the Average Joe. At the end of the news conference Fawcett talked about the nation’s endorsement for “change” during the “historic” November election, relating it to the proposal at hand. But another fee imposed by Democrats? Sounds more like business as usual than “change.” Watch the video here:
