Tolls Back in CT?

by: Red Baron Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

The Connecticut Post is reporting that the legislature’s Transportation Committee co-chairmen, Sen. Don DeFronzo (D-New Britain) and Rep. Antonio Guerrara (D-Rocky Hill), consider it only “a matter of time” before highway tolls are back in place here in Connecticut. With the state so deeply in the red, it is easy to see why the notion of tolls is suddenly more attractive to certain lawmakers. Tolls were done away back in 1985 following a tragic accident in Stratford that killed seven motorists.  Since that time, the notion of bringing back tolls and the revenue they generate has always been an emotional one around the Capitol. Also under consideration by the Transportation Committee is the notion of “congestive pricing” which would charge rush hour motorists higher tolls for using state roads.

Bullies!
I bet that some of these people in 4th grade charged the 2nd graders tools to get into the bathroom and cafeteria!

The tolls where removed for safety reasons. I know that with EZpass and such the hazards are lower but there will still be a need for maned toll booths for people who fall asleep to crash into, not to mention the traffic.
If you ever go across the George Washington Bridge you will see the lines of people without EZpass. these people will be traveling through CT and clogging up the cash tolls increasing the crazy congestion that we already have.
