First 22 Democrats Call for Tax Increases
File this in the “Still Not Getting It” department. We knew that since Senate President Don Williams and House Speaker Chris Donovan have taken an “everything is on the table” approach, a tax increase from legislative Democrats was likely in the future. Now the first 22 Democratic members of the legislature have called for tax increases to solve the state’s economic crisis.
As noted over at CT News Junkie, the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus, 22-members strong and 100% Democrat, have issued a call to raise taxes, saying the rich and affluent need to pay more. Keep in mind that in various “millionaire tax” bills Democrats have put forth before, they believe a “wealthy” person makes over $75,000 per year.
They don’t get it. They want to raise taxes on people who are already having trouble paying their taxes. they want to place a greater burden on a struggling and fragile economy.
Raising taxes is a great way to try to get out of doing actual work on the budget to cut spending and reign in government. But these Democrats have no interest in doing either of these things apparently.
The cuts that Governor Rell and legislative Republicans have proposed will streamline government and close the budget deficit without raising taxes.
Also, for further recommended reading on how Democrats just don’t get it, see this recent article by Ken Dixon of the Connecticut Post.

One Response to “First 22 Democrats Call for Tax Increases”
“still not getting it” is right! They believe 75k a year in this state is “wealthy?” These 22 dems are so out of touch. They just want to spread the wealth like Mr. Obama. Soon there won’t be any incentive to work hard and prosper.
Raising taxes is wrong.
