On the Agenda Tonight in the House…
It’s a Friday afternoon with twelve more days left before the State House of Representatives adjourns sine die. Among the items scheduled to be addressed by the House today are:
HB 5044, An Act Concerning Gold Star Family Plates -This bill would exempt the Gold Star Family Plates, which are issued to immediate family members of Connecticut state residents who were killed in action while performing military duty in the armed forces, from the $10 fee that is currently charged. There have been 103 of these plates issued so far and there is minimal fiscal impact.
HB 5321, An Act Establishing an Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission - This bill establishes an Asian American Affairs Commission within the Legislative Branch. The commission would be similar in scope and organization to that of the five other legislative commissions (PCSW, African-American Affairs Commission, Aging, Children & Latino & Puerto Rican Affairs Commission).
This includes a two-year fiscal note of $451,500 for the salaries of an Executive Director ($100,000 annually), and Administrative Assistant ($50,000 annually), $25,000 in other expenses, $5,000 in equipment and additional costs associated with fringe benefits.
Also, HB 5600, An Act Concerning Connecticut Global Warming Solutions and HB 5662, An Act Concerning An Agreement Among the States to Elect the President of the United States by National Popular Vote have also returned to the “Go-List.”
