Budget Deficit Increases, Amann Drops Out
Jim Amann told the news media this week that he has turned down the cushy job offer from House Speaker Christopher Donovan. News reports said Donovan, a Democrat from Meriden, first offered Amann a $120,000-a-year job just a few days after taking the House speaker post that Amann gave up to focus on his run for governor. The sweet job deal was roundly criticized because the state is steeped in red ink. According to news reports, Donovan later offered to make the job part time, with a $60,000 annual salary and benefits. That’s a part time job most Connecticut residents would love to have.
